Kurumoch International Airport (Russia)

Insulation has played one of the most important parts in the renovation of the Kurumoch International Airport (Russia). First, a new passenger terminal opened at the end of last year. And, at present, the second phase of the project is being developed, with the extension of the new terminal building which aims to be finished by the year 2018, before Russia hosts the next FIFA World Cup.

URSA, the insulation materials manufacturer, has played a leading role in this first phase. The new passenger terminal has been insulated with 2,800 square metres of URSA GEO M-15 and URSA GEO M 20, covering ceilings and interior partition walls. Considerable thicknesses (50 mm) were used in all surfaces, aiming to reinforce the material’s outstanding technical and acoustic properties. This building also presents now an extraordinary resistance to fire.

The three storey building holds 26 check-in desks, retail services, offices, security controls and customs offices. A second phase will see the new building expand to include a hotel, a business centre and a train station.
